BIG BANG – What are sulfates?

Sulfated surfactants, also known as “sulfates,” are cleansing agents that capture sebum and impurities to clean the scalp and hair.

Widely used in cleansing products such as shampoos and shower gels, they demonstrate excellent cleansing properties and produce a significant lather when in contact with water. Their strong cleansing power leaves an immediate feeling of clean hair.

However, when used in high concentrations, certain types of sulfates can irritate the scalp and sensitize the most fragile hair lengths. At Yves Rocher, we have chosen to remove sulfated surfactants from all our shampoos and to develop formulas that gently cleanse all hair types, even the most sensitized.

SULFATE-FREE, BUT STILL FOAMY!

Our formulation experts have developed a blend of non-sulfated surfactants of plant origin (derived, for example, from coconut oil or sunflower oil) for a gentle washing experience, while respecting the balance of the scalp and hair lengths.

These ingredients have been carefully selected to maintain effectiveness and sensory appeal at the heart of our entire new range of shampoos. Under the shower, a creamy lather spreads across the entire hair, removing impurities and excess sebum without drying out the scalp and hair.
